Illness/Exclusion from the Infant House:
In order to minimize exposure to preventable contagious disease we have worked out the following policy:
One of the key elements in improving overall health is to ensure children who attend the program every day are healthy. The tricky issue, of course, is trying to define healthy and consider the needs of the parents who must work. The following criteria will be used to define healthy.
If a child has any two of the symptoms listed below they are considered unable to attend the program.
Epidemics are more common in day care and schools because children are in frequent physical contact with one another. Nevertheless, the rapid spread of highly contagious health problems can be prevented or reduced by early detection and treatment. In the event that a highly contagious health problem is identified in the Nurtury, all parents will be notified immediately.
All parents are required to provide the Nurtury with emergency name and phone numbers before their child is allowed to enter the program. All staff will have infant toddler first aid and CPR training each year. In case of a serious accident, parents will be notified immediately. If you can not be reached, the emergency number you indicated will be called. Staff members will call 911 to request ambulance transportation. The staff member most familiar with the child will stay with him/her until you arrive.
